La coltivazione di patate è un progetto d'arte dell'artista svedese Åsa Sonjasdotter, vincitrice lo scorso anno del premio COAL per l'arte ambientale, la cui pratica si concentra sui temi di diversità, potere e conoscenza. Nel parco del MUSE e nello spazio espositivo l'artista mette in primo piano simbolicamente l'intero processo di coltivazione di una selezione di cinque varietà storiche di patate provenienti da diverse nazioni europee, non registrate nel Catalogo ufficiale dell'EU delle varietà di specie agrarie e ortive, con circolazione commerciale ristretta, minacciate di estinzione. L'opera è parte di una ricerca iniziata dall'artista oltre dieci anni fa e viene presentata per la prima volta in Italia.

The cultivation of potatoes, located also outdoor, is an art project by the Swedish artist Åsa Sonjasdotter, recipient last year of the COAL prize for environmental art, whose practice focuses on issues of diversity, power and knowledge. In the park of MUSE the artist highlights symbolically the entire cultivation process of a selection of 5 old varieties of potatoes from different European nations, not registered on the Official catalogue of EU of varieties of agricultural plant species, restricted for commercial circulation, threaten by extinction. At the end of the project the harvest will be shared with the public. The work is part of a research that has been started by the artist more than ten years ago and is presented for the first time in Italy.
